Scotland recently competed in the Home Nations and Area Championships finishing in 5th place, up 3 spots from the previous tournament

The Scottish Senior side is in preparation for the European Championships in October and kicked off their campaign by competing in the England Korfball Association's Home Nation Championships where they played against England, Ireland and Wales as well as the top area sides from English korfball who had qualified in an earlier competition.

Scotland opened their day with a match against the much more experienced and tournament favourites, England, some dogged defending meant the English were timed out by the shot clock on more than one occasion but the side struggled in attack against the high pressure defense of the England team.

Matches followed against Cambridge and the British Student side with the Scotland team being unable to find their rhythm.  As short break and a regroup meant a much more positive side came out to play against Ireland.  Ireland were keen to reclaim bragging rights after Scotland beat them in the EuroBowl when they last met and Scotland were keen to hold onto them.  This led to a high paced and incredibly tight game, an injury to Ireland's dutch import mean they lost some momentum but continued to battle hard up to the final whistle with Scotland edging them out 7-6.  Scotland then went on to do battle against Cambridge who had defeated them earlier in the day while Ireland faced West Midlands in the 7th/ 8th playoff.

Scotland had finally found their form and battled hard against Cambridge to reverse the result of the earlier match and claimed 5th place in the tournament - an improvement of 3 places on their previous appearance.

The team consisted of:

Gaving Legg (Manchester Warriors)

Mike Brayne (Manchester Warriors)

Kyle Crombie (Edinburgh Uni)

Matt Warren (Birmingham Uni)

Dan Pratt (Croydon)

Eleanor Legg (Manchester Warriors)

Naomi Reid (Edinburgh Uni)
